This is a movie that really makes you think about what’s been taken from us. The sets alone are incredible feats of craftsmanship, each with moving pieces that seamlessly blend into the immersive world they’re built for. Every detail—from posters to background characters to subtle scene direction—paints a vivid picture that the story fully inhabits. The film uses its influences, The Trial and 1984, to punch home the absurdist humor Gilliam is known for. The final sequence, teetering on the edge of nonsense, pungent answer to the questions those works pose about the state versus the individuals mind.
I’m not sure what this was or what it was trying to be. It kinda just aura farms in the beginning and then does nothing with it.
