An impressive look under the hood of how fraud at the highest levels of government was staged and then pulled off, "Man on the Run" is both impressive for its access and storytelling.
How two people brazenly stole hundreds of millions of dollars from their own country, flaunted it publicly, and even got so far as funding the Martin Scorsese film, "The Wolf of Wall Street", which was literally ABOUT CORRUPTION - was as baffling as it was fascinating.
But…
Absolutely LOVED this film - it's as if Doc from "Back to the Future" were 30 years old and set loose in a small town in Alaska. The vibe was so fun, the characters had both heart and depth, and really - it's been a minute since I left the theater with a big ol' smile on my face.
And that's what this film delivers: joy.
Joy to be in a theater, to laugh at the ridiculous twists and turns, and to sink fully into a story I'm excited to share with my friends and family.
Saw this film at the 30th Austin Film Festival, and was IMMEDIATELY pulled in with the true-to-science event that kicked it off, and LOVED how they applied it to the rest of the film. Phenomenal performances throughout, this contained horror / thriller also has a beautiful core to the story that really shines at the end.
A soulful and beautifully executed film, A Room Full of Nothing pulled me in immediately with it's wry humor, then stole my heart as the two leads explored what they needed to live a fulfilled life. Love this film!
