  The Girl with the Needle 2024

  Painful, tight, looming, transportive. As much suffering as one could expect from any Polish coproduction, but the modern Łódza Szkoła Filmowa could never make anything as coherent and stirring. Fuck all ye Polish filmmakers, and especially Daria Woszek. Puce Mary is a genius and a god. And the ending, a total of three powerful tears were wept.

  this is a bad movie. maybe it could have been better if the writing editing and sound design were all done by completely different people. 
  last 30 minutes kind of fun but not for any good reason.

  Mamet is a God. Thank you for this. I want to see this again. There’s something going on between these protagonists that I don’t think I’ve seen before. Sure, the narration is pretty standard, but I feel like we’re just observing them- never quite seeing the world the way they do. It’s perfect, disconnected, observation. 

  Mamet and the director create cinema that is believable and natural to the core. 

  And then comes a brief interlude with Angelica Huston and the circus.
