I don’t know how this movie about an escorts shotgun marriage found the ultimate sweet spot of humor. Somehow bridging the dry and sardonic of the likes of In Bruge to the raunch and slapstick of Pineapple Express-  but oh man I was DYING.

Also 10 for 10 ending scene- really encapsulates an indescribable experience I fear far too many will resonate with.

This is a hugely irresponsible movie to have made in our current political climate. It also needs to be said that having no stance is not the same as having a neutral stance.

Also to every person who got a hard on for the perceived glory of the politically combatant. Just know that if there ever is a civil war, you’re not going to die with dignity in a hail of fire. There is a 95% chance you will die of dysentery with your pants down around your ankles and dreaming of a world with pepto.

I genuinely can’t tell if my growing dissatisfaction in Wes Anderson’s new films is due to a decline in quality storytelling or a symptom of my societally driven need for new and novel. Either way I felt very little connection to this film and it’s characters. There were many moments I enjoyed but without a character arch to connect them watching this film feels similar to spending two hours scrolling instagram to pause at the best scenes and scroll again.

Okay, I legitimately am so confused as to how my experience of this film could be so disparate from the collective whole but I was radically disappointed by this film. It felt as if it spent the first half regurgitating what was already known from the first film and then the second half hop skip and jumping through and over critical character development and plot points. I was really looking forward to seeing this film SPECIFICALLY because the pacing of the first was immaculate but man I could say the opposite is true for this one.
