While it may not have been absolutely necessary this remake is a fun watch. Who is going to say no to hearing Beyoncé? The voice cast and soundtrack add new flair to the movie. It has pretty visuals even though I think they could have done a cuter less National Geographic style. It has a lot of emotional moments and connection to African culture. While I still find the story sad I’m singing along to all of the songs in my head. Timon and Pumba by the way are hilarious and they even gave them new lines like the Be Our Guest intro.

The Lion King 1994
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Great movie and great rewatch. One of the best Disney soundtracks. It makes me nostalgic watching it. It’s honestly a little sad for a kids movie when Mufasa dies. Even Scar getting eaten by the hyenas is dark. It’s kinda inspired by Hamlet which isn’t a bad thing. I see why audiences loved and love it.

Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again 2022
While I love this franchise and would watch more of it in any form this animated movie didn’t have the magic of the live action trilogy. Without the original cast I think it lost some heart. The story seemed a little convoluted with them going to ancient Egypt, awakening an actual god, and spouting magic prophecies. The jokes weren’t bad but there were so many, even the villains had a lot, making the characters seem flatter and not like themselves. Maybe it would have made a good tv show aimed at kids for those elements. The animation style did have a comic book element to it.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb 2014
The third Night at the Museum movie is a great heartfelt ending to the trilogy. They keep each movie fresh with a new location and adding new characters and even better special effects. They expanded on the mythology of the tablet and made the stakes really high. Larry had some good moments with his son Nick and character development of learning to let go of his son and the museum. Dan Stevens’ as Lancelot is both a funny doofus and…
