Gorgeous set, gorgeous costumes, gorgeous cast, but did we really need a third act (or like half of the first one)?
I know a movie is good when I leave it with immediate ambivalence, or even distaste, but feel its affect settles in as scenes replay in my mind in the days, weeks, and sometimes months, after watching. Almost a week later and I think this is one of those movies.
What did strike me right away was how unusual it is to watch a movie really driven by setting and sound rather than character or plot, and what a masterful filmmaker Glazer is to have figured out how to do that so artfully.
Considering adding an extra half star for that perfectly-timed goat bleat. Otherwise, loved the whimsical production design, thought the story was fun, and the cast was hot.
