The Film of Her 1996
(Walker Cinema) A beautiful tribute to the Paper Print Collection of the Library of Congress and how it survives today. Also a cautionary tale in regards to what is considered archival: paper, nitrate, acetate, digital. Includes the horrifying electrocution of an elephant (thank you Edison) and the titillating images of early cinema that perhaps sparked an obsession in the form of 'her.' A brilliant panegyric on cinephilia. Music by Bill Frisell and Henryk Gorecki.

Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2 2012
Sardar's violent legacy carries on through the personalities of his sons. Part two shoots us right back into the action, juggling the familial maneuverings, rivalries and allegiances to uncertain ends. You can almost feel the story hurdling towards its eventual finale, building layer upon layer at an impressive but controlled pace. Pagers, cell phones, real guns (not homemade), mirror sunglasses, shirts with big collars, weed, and a double-cross that we should have seen coming.
At one point, political patriarch Ramadhir tells his son that the only reason he is still alive is because he doesn't watch Bollywood films.
