I finally sat down to watch There Will Be Blood after years of it being enthusiasticly recommended to me. I thought it was fine. I was underwhelmed - there are undeniably some elements that I loved - it looks gorgeous and the discordant score is very impactful. An absolutely stunning film, visually and tonally, which channels the isolation and creeping sense of dread of classic gothic dramas. The texture of the film is palpable and drew me into Priscilla's world immediately. The performances are understated and affecting, and the makeup and costuming is flawless! 5/5.
