This film has left me reeling for the past 16 hours, I haven’t thought about much else.
I thought that Christine Jeffs captured with masterful accuracy the melancholic coastal ennui of being a 12 year old girl on summer holidays in NZ. So from the get go I felt a visceral kinship with Janey, which kept me captivated throughout and ultimately afforded the ending its devastating impact (no matter how predictable).
