Am a I a little sad that I ended up watching this on tiny screen on a plane? Yes. Was it a great way to spend 3 1/2 hours of a 9 hour flight? Also, yes.

Wow. I was not expecting to be so mesmerized by this film...especially knowing the subject matter going in. This film does melodrama right. In a lesser movie the dramatic score swells would be evidence of tackiness but in this film it hits a tone I can't describe-- somewhere in between irony and dramatic manipulation. And the character interactions! Not to mention the framing! I don't know how, but this is probably one of my favorite 2023 films.
