Well, I’d never thought I’d love a movie about a killer toy monkey this much but it really was an unexpected treat. Sure there were some plot points that were a little half baked or that I wished they’d committed to more, but over all this was a solid watch. The body horror and kills were so campy and fun wile also making me cringe in fear. There was also way more humor than I was expecting which really added to the charm.
This was a cutesy little holiday movie we watched during the snow shut in of our own in Louisiana. It feels like it was trying to be a young adult version of Love Actually and I don’t hate that. Not a whole lot to say other than I recognized so many of these actors from various other C rated movies that it was kinda endearing.
Is this movie revolutionary… no. Is it accurate to the time period it’s portraying… no. However, Time Cut is I think a really cool intro for young people into slasher films. It provides the mystery of a who dunit and mixes it with time travel elements that while kinda obvious is still fun. Maybe it’s cause Trap was fresh in my mind but I feel like I both movies have opposite problems. Don’t move was great in the emotional department, establishing quickly the main characters depression and subsequently reason for living later on in the film. That and the reveal in the second act that the killer has a wife and daughter made it really gripping. However, I kinda wish the premise didn’t take so long to get interesting. Only in moments where…
