I tried watching this again, right after it ended and my internet went out. I'm fucking fuming. This was incredible. Got my blood boiling and thinking about film in a way I've wanted to get back to for some months now.
Godard gives you plenty to chew on and makes this film so fucking enjoyable that if you don't at least replay certain moments after it's ended then did you even watch it?!?

    Also...

"Whats your greatest ambition in life?"
    "To become Immortal. Then die."

    The FUCK?!
    Masterpiece.

Absolutely soul shattering and life affirming.

I innately feel the burning passion and longing to be something and to have the world know your name that some of the interviewees express but I’m for some reason most moved by the juxtaposition of Dorian Corey ‘so over it’ attitude ending monologue…

“If you shoot an arrow and it goes real high…hooray for you.”

Forgot to log this back when I rewatched to talk about it on my podcast.
I hated this a lot more on second watch. It definitely does not reach any sort of height it was aiming for. Relies on your previous knowledge of better works by Scorsese. Joaquin is alright. I think this movie's worst offense though is its handling of Mental Illness. It's not good, it's harmful, played for shock value and I despise it. Screenplay is pretty trash as well. Only redeemable quality is the score. Costume design and set people did pretty great! But overall, fuck it. This movie sucks bologna ass.
