Love Garland, but this is his weakest one, feels very aimless in what it is trying to say and accomplish, with some pointless scenes here and there. That said, still liked it, loved the way it's shot as always, sound design is fantastic and the photojournalism angle is really cool, leading for some great scenes and shots. The final sequence is exhilarating and I love how and where it ends.

It's less of a romance than I expected, but a very interesting drama. Looks great, has some great lines and performances and an unexpected happy ending, just what I expect from a classic, even though it didn't really move me, a really entertaining watch.

Becomes Sebastian Stan, instantly gets laid. Pretty realistic.

This was hard snubbed in the awards season. What a great script, a crazy descent into madness, the sense of losing yourself is perfectly portrayed. I loved absolutely every aspect of it, just won't give it a 10 because the wrap-up felt underwhelming, not bad, but I feel like could've been more cohesive. Otherwise, sensational experience, Stan was perfect.

It's so refreshing to see a prison film be so tender and humane, not relying on the same cliches and archetypical characters, actually portraying complex people finding relief or some kind of redemption through art. The focus is all on the script and acting, with both being top notch. Colman Domingo is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors, but Clarence Maclin surprised me and delivered a performance of the same caliber, stellar stuff. Glad this is being recognized even without heavy marketing or campaign.
