Wes Anderson is allergic to not catching a vibe.
Seriously beautiful movie with very obvious, relatable themes and metaphors. First half of the movie is silly, fun, Wes Anderson grand Budapest hotel vibes and part two hits you over the head with the heavy stuff in a typical beautiful Wes Anderson way. Great movie to confront sadness and loss in an uplifting way.
Can’t get over the Adrian Brody and custom Louis luggage drip.
Significantly gorier than I thought going in so just be warned. Definitely thematically and stylistically not an American movie. Classic revenge at what cost type movie. The main villain (the guy from old boy) is seriously an insanely good actor. Not my cup of tea but not at all bad by any stretch of the imagination.
I mean it’s avatar. The movie did a great job creating a stunning fictional world and made people empathetic to its destruction. The action scenes were also really cool. While you don’t see a ton of blood and gore it’s pretty violent for a kids movie. Unfortunately the plot was written by a child or AI. Knew what I was getting into and despite the stupid plot had a great time.
If you haven’t watched this as a heterosexual, cis-gendered white male who was once in a fraternity there is probably something wrong with you.
