The Favourite 2018
I generally don’t like Yorgos Lanthimos’ movies. He’s heavy on style but light on substance, and when someone tries that hard to be weird and avant garde it generally makes me wonder what they’re compensating for. That being said, I could happily watch Olivia Colman walk around a CVS reading product labels for two hours. Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and Nicholas Hoult are great, but this is Colman’s film.

Law Abiding Citizen 2009
Underrated. Easily Gerard Butler’s best role. It’d be a four star movie if they’d used an ending (and there were allegedly several to choose from) that didn’t allow a corrupt guy to win in a movie that was all about tearing down corrupt guys.
