Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves 2023
This was a pretty good time. For D&D players, there were lots of fun in-jokes and moments where you could see the mechanics of the game affecting the plot of the film. For the uninitiated, however, the film plays out somewhat predictably, like many other ventures in the genre. Pine is a stand out, though, charming as ever and lending some necessary gravitas to his quick-witted and funny bard Edgin.

Jaws 1975
A master class in suspense from a young Spielberg. I watch this film every year around or on the Fourth of July and never get tired of any of the beats. Scheider, Dreyfuss, and Shaw play off of each other perfectly and Williams’ score manages to set the tone of the danger lurking just beneath the surface with little more than two chromatic notes.
