Mischievously nasty and gleefully immoral in all the right ways, this snowbound killer kiddies shocker is left wanting in a couple of artistic choices that don't quite come off. The wonderfully daring conclusion suggests a sequel that never was. Which is a shame, as a franchise seeing the little fuckers bumping off a series of fresh victims could have been horror heaven.

Blood Tracks 1985
A poofy-haired cock rock band and their crew run afoul of a fucked-up, feral family while in the mountains shooting a video in this snowbound, hair metal Hills Have Eyes. It can't hold a blood-spattered flying V to Craven's classic of course, but it's still a goofy, gory good time, with a seemingly endless trail of severed limbs, split skulls, ripped throats and munched flesh.

Ham on Rye 2019
Tyler Taormina's wistful, wandering Ham on Rye is as weird and unfocused as any of the directionless teenagers at its centre. Taking a charmingly confounding stroll from A to Nowhere, it cuts into the hopeful/hopeless, desperately-wanting-something-but-not-knowing-what feeling of youth with a relatable yet offset reality unreachable for any riotous, gross out teen romance with a Third Eye Blind heavy soundtrack.
