    This is a solid thriller from one of the big three Pauls in cinema. It’s a constant slow burn, a Schrader staple, but there’s a more prominent underpinning of hope than in something like First Reformed.     “Did you just refer to yourself in the fourth-person?”

    Feels long and a good amount of jokes don’t land, but Jim Carrey’s performance is pretty funny most of the time. The scene where Charlie and Hank are fighting near the end is, much like John Cena’s withdrawals in Ricky Stanicky, a moment that justifies Carrey’s seat in the Hall of Kino (he was already there from Truman Show/Sonic 3). The Farrellys really know how to bring that secret ingredient out of their actors.
