What a brilliant and thoughtful film by Cauleen Smith! It's a movie that is made out of the complexities of real life. So much can be said about it, but what I enjoyed the most is how well Smith is providing very nuanced commentary on things such as class, community, family, gendered violence, racial violence, even art and photography without beating you over the head or being overly complicated/convoluted. Also the message of the movie is so compelling, in the face of constant black death and precarity what we have is how we show up for each other. I loved this movie.

All We Imagine as Light 2024
The lives of the Malayali nurses were portrayed in a compelling way, I thought at first. But the film left me thinking about the director & writer's class/caste because the characters, though layered, lacked complexity and nuance.
