all of the negative bullshit that people think when you say ‘arthouse cinema’. drawn out, slow pacing, bunch of jarringly artistic disconnected nonsense. some shining moments of Cinema because that’s what they were really really trying to achieve, but overall not worth it. pure discomfort, and not in the good way.
Made it to about the hour mark before we walked out. I’m sure some of the people in that cinema were just there to see some little boy pee…
best of all time sorta movie. timeless classic. great music, funny as hell, campy, great performances. the last 1/4 of the movie sorta drags but it’s fine
Meryl Streep is transcendental. Nicolas Cage walking in on Nicolas Cage masturbating. What’s not to like? The Tiger King orchid guy is also glowing with memorable lines and delivery. After seeing it for the second time it’s definitely pushing up the ranks in my favourite movies ever. Top 10 in the 2000s for sure. Delightful foreshadowing, no notes
dumb as fuck and funny as hell. I can’t believe how much they hurt each other. Enjoyably problematic in that special early 2000s way. Spike Jonze breakout? Way gayer than I remember
