Just imagine yourself settling down in this town for a decade or so and getting to know it. That’s what this film achieves for you.

Boyhood 2014
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Very nearly the polar opposite of Birdman: devoid of incident, concerning very ordinary people, set in Texas, surveying years, scoreless save for a series of songs on cue, and employing very few directorial or cinematographical tricks.
And yet, just as good as Birdman if not better. Together, the two demonstrate the range cinema is capable of in 2014. Boyhood is long and low-key, but hardly ever dull because it is a study in character and an experiment in what happens when a character discovers who he is in lock-step with an audience doing the same.
This ambitious film's simplicity is deceptive.
