Came for one person and one person only…but stayed for the exchange between a drunken socialist and a Russian billionaire. This reminded me of Bunin’s The Gentleman from San Francisco.

Amusing overall, until….the donkey scene. I have my moon conjunct Venus in the 6th house—I canNOT see that shit or hear it no matter how fictional it might be; it felt very intense to me and was not worth the metaphor. I have to stop writing or the sound will start looping in my mind—GOODBYE.

I often forget how influential the Roman Empire is in art—dystopian art, of course, since the Roman Empire was…very dystopian. What did I think about throughout this movie besides how beautiful Joaquin Phoenix is? I thought about how with every improvement in morals, there had to be someone that stood up to convention and voiced the hidden cruelties. How would that happen today? Is there anything left? The death-penalty, maybe? Hunting for sport…corporate greed? Who is the mob? Who is Caesar?
