That fucking Hungarian reality.
This is the film that perfectly encapsulates and parodies that concept.
In general I would have given this film 3 stars, as there are a fair few problems and nonsensical decisions, but it just deserves praise for the final act, which singlehandedly carries the film.
A sidenote is that the clever use of lighting is all over the film and creates some really stunning set pieces, but the director may have overused this gimmick a bit too much.
Unsure how my hype for this film really affected my final opinion on it, or whether I just ended up finding certain plot points which I could relate to, but in the end I found this film expressively moving and human.
The ending is a bit surreal and could have been more grounded in reality while maintaining the same feeling, but nonetheless considering we are seeing things from Charlie's perspective it is justified.
An easy to watch film, probably the easiest to sit down and rewatch out of all the HP films, as the tri-wizard tournament and it's 3 stages give a very straightforward structure to the whole film.
Nonetheless, that doesn't mean that the film is not enjoyable, as I believe that there are still a great deal of qualities to it. The most standout scene has got to be task 1, whereas the cemetery scene comes in as a close second.…
