This really feels like Tarantino trying to be Scorsese, only he doesn’t do as well as PTA did. Even uses a Stones track.
I feel like we get lost in the acting within the acting in the middle of the movie, and it personally takes me out of it a little bit. Although I have to say I’m brought back in pretty quickly with the Qualley, Sweeney & Madison combo.
“Here’s to pretty women with filthy thoughts” is an insane toast.
My favourite part of the movie is when Liotta and Pesci are in the semi and Liotta lets out a “yeeeeehaaaaaw”
Second favourite scene is the dinner at Pesci’s mom’s place after the bar brawl where DeNiro rolls the glass ketchup bottle in his hands for the most efficient output.
First Criterion Collection purchase. Great packaging and the 4K looks great.
Absolute power move from MacLachlan taking Dern on a date and only getting himself a bite to eat after asking if she was “hungry or thirsty or both”.
Probably the artsiest movie I’ve seen to date aside from Fear and Loathing.
I like Mulholland Drive better after 1 watch of each. Twin Peaks universe up next in the Lynch catalogue.
