In a world with so much hate against migrants, a movie that shows what it takes to truly belong and the sacrifices one has to make along the way. Touched a sore spot and ended up with my eyes wet in more than one spot. A movie that works on every level from start to finish, going to revisit it several times over.

At some point I forgot I was watching a movie and was transported to Tokyo, cleaning toilets and living Hirayama's life.
