I’ll summarize it now for all of you, the film is just heart wrenching to watch from start to finish. The child’s good nature being corrupted by his mother was the hardest part to watch. Would have rated higher if there’d been more focus on the development of Shuhei’s struggle between the love for his mother and his hopes for a better life.

Barbie 2023
Noteably, the movie is incredibly self aware which results in very funny scenarios. The characters (both in Barbieland and the Real World) are ridiculous, and they know it. The imagination used to create Barbieland took me back to childhood. Moreover, the existential crisis Stereotypical Barbie found herself in was actually quite relatable.
Personally I found the film to be more style over substance. The overall take on feminism was very shallow and lacked intersectionality.
