    Great action can make up for so many things but when you lack even the semblance of a personality it just can't carry you, lives and dies on the demonic concept but it ends up as a crutch that they have to keep falling back on in leu of anything real, watchable but never becomes anything more then a surface level romp.

    Enchanting, as you would expect of Obayashi's work, but with a lens focused on a more traditional endeavour then most of the work I've seen from him. There's a reverence for the source material that commands the camera to keep a soft and measured approach, feeling closer to a one act play then a film in its majority, but still allowing bouts of flair to give the story being told life in its muted visuals.
