Not having Paul king do his Wes Anderson-esque storybook charm on this one was a mistake. Also recasting the mom was so wildly jarring it took me out of the whole thing

I fear going from a structurally and pacing-wise perfect movie like Parasite to…. this…. was a bit jarring from Bong Joon Ho. While the performances were great, they had a lot to make up for in weird script dialogue, plot lines just disappeared halfway through the movie, and a weird lack of urgency or tension that I wasn’t expecting. In the positives, it was definitely a movie I have never seen before, which itself felt like a breath of fresh air. I’m obsessed with the lil tardigrade aliens tho
