For a movie directed by a woman, this feels very make gazey. And not in a good way.
Interesting that the movie seems to have more empathy for the men watching a rape than the actual women being raped.
You know, it’s interesting watching this after Pig and Don’t Look Up. Pig has a main character whom violence (physical and emotional) is inflicted upon but is decidedly not violent himself. Don’t Look Up is meant to be so relevant right? It’s holding a mirror up to society guys!!! But it spends more time berating the audience and gleefully showing how dumb and doomed we are than actually being a film.
