I’m not a fan of the original (the narrative is just okay) so I don’t expect this to work for me, and my expectation is true :)).
But damn, practical effect and makeup has come a long way to make the climax and ending hit so hard.
I wish Robert Eggers had remade this scene
The presence and apperance of Bill Skarsgard’s Orlock is just fucking breathtaking. However, I don’t fully buy Lily Rose-Depp’s performance.

The last scene where the camera tracks backward is my most favorite moment of the movie. Somehow it encapsulates the feeling of aging, your inner young self is still there, you can still see it but time is just starting to separate the old you from that younger self of yours. Finally, there will become a time that the younger self is just a blurry image and your memories about that time may start to fade away.
