The love child of “The Talented Mr Ripley” and “Kind Hearts and Coronets.” Honorable inspiration from “Call Me By Your Name” and “The Favourite.” Barry Keoghan somehow more psychotic than he was in “Killing of a Sacred Deer.”
Beautiful cinematography and very well done acting. Ending twist was fantastic, with some holes and left out logic. All over entertaining, twisted film.

This is a particularly difficult movie to review and decide whether or not I overall enjoyed the film. The cinematography is beautiful, the camera angles and the use of reflections particularly stands out. The leads are done well with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, the latter stripped to her core in an usually pleasant and very real fashion. But something gets lost for me after a very strong beginning. As someone who knew very little of the behind the scenes history of Queen and the life of Freddie Mercury, I was overall very entertained. The best parts of the movie are the insights into how their greatest hits came to life, and of course being able to lipsynch along in the theater. After watching videos of the true Freddie Mercury, Rami Malek in some ways really brought his character to life, and in other scenes may have overdone it. Curious how Sasha Baron Cohen would have faired as playing the lead singer....
