kept thinking of Don’t Look Up while watching this - another cringe comedy effort that just didn't land for me. Politically too on the nose. even if I agree with the sentiment it’s just not that funny.
Set design, execution, and RPats were all excellent, but ultimately the comedy, CGI mammoth/bugs, and Mark Ruffalo did not hit home. Couldn’t understand him with those dentures lol. Rest of the cast was solid, Steven Yuen was way underused.
I think BJH is hit or miss for me i dunno. was all geared up to love this

The Game 1997
this movie was way bette than i remembered it. absurd but so fun the whole way and meticulously put together. wish they didn’t lean so hard on the plonky piano bit by otherwise i was fully on board for the ride. a nice companion to vertigo, truman show, eyes wide shut, self reliance. MD slays and has a few strong fits as well.
