Watched as part of an ongoing Doug McClure deep dive. Kids… it’s not even a cameo.

However, from the main performances to the aesthetic and the twisting narrative, I really enjoyed this film. It’s dark and there’s a lot of “know your limits” content, but fans of neo-noir and 80’s exploitation should add this to their lists.

Cate Blanchett can do anything. It’s her world, and we’re all just living in it. This is where I came to Black Bag. Full film nerd disclosure: this critic is shamefully under-viewed as it relates it modern directorial titan Steven Soderbergh. This is something I need to remedy. However, there was something so incredibly cool about this trailer. Something effortless … and much of it had to do with Cate Blanchett and co-lead Michael Fassbender. Is Black Bag the sexy adult spy thriller we desperately need right now? Or should this one just take a cyanide pill?

    First time watch.

I absolutely loved the world Carpenter creates here. In the first 10 minutes he had me missing late night, oldies radio. There’s something so nostalgic about over night DJs.

While I wanted more from Curtis, having Janet Leigh hanging around more than makes up for it.

I love (what looked to be) a nod to The Thing from Another World in the (redacted for spoilers).
