Obviously the person on the other end of this is the bigger problem, but it's really an uphill battle to feel empathetic for someone who so willfully ignored so many GIGANTIC red flags.
In the first 5 minutes we learn that she met him in person, he didn't recognize her, and she literally never mentions it to him after? That sets the tone for the rest of the story.
