This was a tough watch in a lot of good ways. Really slow grind to the end, but the camera work, acting and soundtrack make up for that big time. Defoe enters the movie and it starts to really pick up. Lot of moments that leave your toes curling. There was only one scare that I felt was just a cheap jump scare.
Overall, a high quality movie that leaves you pretty full.
My favorite part is the guy whose only role is to call Will Smith Big Daddy while their entire squadron gets annihilated.
Heartbreaking at every twist and turn at the end. The middle kind of had me bored not gonna lie. When it comes to these gangster movies. I love the come up to how they got to the point and then the aftermath. The parts where they are doing gangster shit like selling coke or what not never really does anything for me. But my god when it starts focusing on him trying to get his life together it hits you at every corner. Brilliant story. Tone's a little off and switches rapidly, but it was for the best. Must see tbh just for the 2nd half.
By far everything I wanted from this movie. It felt like a love letter to HannaBarbara cartoons of the past.
