  if i had $20 million and a massive crew, id also probably end up half naked raving in the jungle. fascinating to see how colonialism infiltrates not just the themes of the text, but the means of production itself. hope someone properly compensated the filipino people working on set at some point (i doubt it). also entranced by whatever the fuck was going on with dennis hopper. move forward or nothing will ever happen.

  sharks !!!! the indifference of paul mescal’s character is the worst and best thing about this. everything just feels flat when you have a guy motivated by “rage” that then falls into vague inherited idealism that he wants no part in executing? ends on an extremely odd note. i am definitely overthinking it, but how does a film about the fallacies of empire and absolute power just conclude that “uh maybe one day it’ll be good”. very bleak. some cool music.

  not very good but i am just glad to be back at the cinema :)) i like that skins will probably always be the pinnacle of nicholas hoult’s dramatic career
