This was lovely. Really enjoyed the progression of the film & how it represented the protagonist's shift of focus, with the early scenes focussing on his profession & skimming over spending time with his son, acquaintances etc, & the second half being a really feelgood sequence where he spends meaningful time with his loved ones as he rediscovers his soul & regains his passion for cooking. Food preparation scenes were wonderful. Would visit again.

The Karate Kid Part III 1989
Enjoyed this more than it had been set up for me; essentially a feature-length manipulation and test of faith of the protagonists. The new antagonist Terry Silver is such a quintessential stock 80s movie villain as to almost be cartoonish, but he is nonetheless utilised strongly. An engaging film that pays off with a solid relief of tension. I wish Margaret the secretary was in it more.

The Karate Kid Part II 1986
A solid, well-paced follow-up with a good sense of progression & callback, relatable characters, and an increase in stakes and menace throughout its runtime. Antagonist Chozen brings a persistent malice towards Daniel, which escalates towards an intense and gripping final act. I found self feeling empathy towards many of the characters also; there was a real sense of community in the film's central setting. Very good.
