    Like an educational video played on the last few days of the school year. Tepid narration, pointless story, overall really disappointing for a 60s piece.

    Tense, enthralling, and even abstract near the end. A ride not easily forgotten for sure. There’s plenty of setup and even intrigue in certain respects but wish there were more camaraderie or antagonism or more dynamics at all at play between the four central characters.

    70th Anniversary Minus One — Minus Color

    Still phenomenal and still heart wrenching, with emphasis on the performances (complimentary) and on the Oscar winning CGI (derogatory). 

    While the inter-character drama and period piece aesthetic benefit from the desaturation, the visual effects and indeed filmmaking style itself works against the reimagining, pulling away from the idea by being clear signifiers of 2020s cinema.

    The result is a good but not greater presentation in cool grayscale, with the slightest hint of sepia in the cumulative sunrise, that will only really find appreciation from cinephiles and Godzilla weirdos.

    Any drop of nuance and interpretation is stomped out thoroughly by Pattinson inner monologuing or worse the dialogue overtly spelling out every action that takes place.
