Only Yesterday 1991
I liked this, but was confused at the start with what was happening with the present and past timeline. Such a good experience though with how realistic the school scenes were and what its kind of like to be a kid in japanese culture. I like this. This was just before his breakthrough into the mainstream mouths, as it has more genuinity and heart to it, rather than grand budapest or moonrise kingdom that feel like films meticulously made to woo all the aesthetic cinema goers. Anyways, this film was great and had more of what I want from him and his cute aesthetic style.

All the violence, besides the famous fatality moves and combat traits, felt forced and strained to try and meet…

Haven't watched this since watching it on tv with dad and brother years ago. I thought of this with the film I am writing, as I started to implement an idea of filmography into the film, which they have with the camera the FBI uses for surveillance. Not spoiling anything there. Good film though, as I realised that Tony Scott is who Michael Bay dreams of being. Still kinda Michael Bay sometimes with unnecessary angles, but at least the filmography…
