    A random pull from the 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die list, so I knew nothing about this going in besides the title. I wasn't sure what to expect from a Hays Code-era film tackling bigamy. I was ready for a treatment of the topic a few steps above "Hard enough dealing with one broad, imagine trying to juggle two, amirite?"

    Fuck it, I'm gonna say it. This is Pixar's best movie.

    No one could have predicted it. This, a latter-era Pixar dark horse, has seized the #1 position in my Pixar ranking. And so ends my Pixar-Mania rewatch that's been going on for 9 months now. What a note to end on. It's good to be alive.

    A lovely little film about opening yourself up to people and making connections where you least expect them. As a devout lover of the Before Trilogy, it's no surprise that this resonates with me as well, although this has a distinct dingy, drunken, Russian working-class beauty that contrasts the clean, intellectual, Western middle class trappings of Linklater's films. Also, it's a lot funnier.

    Suffered a bit from high expectations I think. Bong Joon Ho isn't known for subtlety, but I think I'm starting to realize that his particular over-the-top tone works better for me in his Korean-language films. This also isn't his sharpest or most coherent satire.
