The Way We Were 1973
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Your girl is lovely Hubbell.
Barbras’s hair is literally a metaphor for her character: messy, full of energy, impossible to control. It’s the visual metaphor for everything that makes her ‘too much’ for him.
But isn’t that the beauty of the movie? She’s wild and unpredictable, he’s soft and safe. Her hair, just like her ideals, doesn’t fit into his perfect, clean-cut world. And maybe that’s why, in the end, it was never going to work—she’s the meteor that burns bright, but he was always looking for a peaceful sky.
