  From a technical standpoint, the writing, composition, and pacing of this film is brilliant-- the two-hour runtime in this case is precisely what the movie needed for the plot to entice the audience as it did. Narratively, its brilliance lies in that it truley is not a horror film. Conversely, it is a romance and social critique whose vehicle for the exploration of subalterality, alienation, otherness, and love as a transformatively embodied experience just so happens to be body horror.
