Of all of the 2010s Ghost movies (Sinister, The Conjuring, Insidious, etc.), I think Sinister works the best in a lot of ways. At times it feels like just a vehicle for the genuinely disquieting snuff films, but the surrounding narrative is compelling enough to tie them together nicely enough! The obsessive writer is an archetype I dig and I think his reactions are (mostly) realistic given his character. To his credit, he even tries to leave it behind and…

The Parenting 2025
I had a lot of fun with this one! Nothing too genuinely spooky, but it definitely works as a spoof of ghost movies and horror movies in general! Lots of jokes based on the characters realistically reacting to horrifying situations and that sort of joke works on me! I found most of the jokes to be good and the performances were very solid, with some standouts! I loved Dean Norris as the blue collar dad and Brian Cox was fuckin chewing the scenery and clearly having a lot of fun. Overall enjoyable! And gay, that's a plus too

The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 2005
This movie was everything to me as a kid and uhhh it was definitely something to watch as an adult. Very disjointed and pretty abysmal special effects, but it's still very special to me. Though this one may just stay in the memory vault from now on

The Thing 1982
Man this movie has it all. A bangin score, some of the most iconic practical effects of all time, great performances from a great cast. It's just so good! So many well framed shots and such cool lighting with the pink/orange flares and the blue lights on the ice. It's also a masterwork in tension, even after having seen it several times. It was also so fucking awesome to see it in a theatre, I noticed so much more. It's fucking rules
