Louis Wain's art is fascinating. His institutionalization seemed to have sparked an evolution in his art where he shifted from soft, delicate scenes to wild and vivid fractal kaleidoscopes (whether that was influenced by his mental health or just artistic experimentation seems to be a topic of debate). The Godfather 1972
Exceptional movie from start to finish! Brando is a standout as Vito Corleone, but the rest of the cast excels at inviting you into the Corleone family and their world. The set design and color in this film make The Godfather so inviting and immersive: the warm, muted tones and cozy, cramped interiors of the '40s and '50s evoke the comforting feeling of walking into a friend of a friend's grandparents' kitchen and being welcomed with open arms. The dialogue is memorable and quotable and effortlessly able to steal your attention. A timeless classic!

Everything in this film from the costume design (especially Winslow as The Phantom), to the goofy plot, to the awesome music, to the neat split-screen shots, to the vibrant use of color - everything is seemingly chosen because…

The Dark Crystal 1982
This is an awesome film with clearly a lot of passion behind it. The puppet and costume design is wonderful, and the beautiful grotesqueness (I genuinely mean that in a good way) of it lends itself really well to the dark fantasy fable aesthetic that the movie absolutely nails.
I find it especially inspiring that Henson and Oz could take their established craft of puppetry and reframe it in a very different context than what was expected of them at…
