To me this felt superficial in all the senses of the word. The visuals were beautiful but with no substance. Like sure it was cool to see pretty shots of religious leaders walking around in cool outfits, but did it really mean anything? No, not really. Underrated as hell.
The parallels drawn between the oppressive force of the Soviet Union on Finland and the domestic abuse that the main character faces are honestly quite clever and certainly feel fresh. I personally think this is one of the best Finnish films in a while. Too bad the marketing for it was awful.
Please watch it if you get the chance!! I think it deserves way more success than what it got.

I absolutely loved it. I’m definitely a sucker for movies where you just kind of vibe there with the characters. It does take some time getting into, and I would say the beginning is by far the worst part, as it feels way too fast paced and confusing. But that pace thankfully slows down after the title shows up on screen, and for me at least it explains…
