This is a fun old school adventure romp! While the script was a little iffy (and wildly cheesy )at times, the overall story was enjoyable.

Billy Campbell was basically Josh Hartnett and Brendan Frasier put together (which wouldn’t be a bad thing but he didn’t totally have the charisma to back it up). Jennifer Connelly did a great job with what could’ve been a very stereotypical role and it seemed like Timothy Dalton was having a blast so I hope he was!

This was a double bill for me with The 4:30 movie and while I think the two are different - they also complemented each other pretty well.

Snack Shack was definitely the more introspective of the two, more reminiscent of Adventureland, a movie I liked but didn’t love and I feel similarly about this one. Less laugh out loud moments, more “I wish I’d done more crazy shit like this when I was a teenager” moments.

Performances were great, especially LaBelle and Robinson. And if I never have to hear the phrase “shit pig” again, I’ll be happy.

Can’t believe I forgot about chekov’s (spoiler) until it came back into play.

All that aside tho, this was a well made film with fantastic performances by all three leads (and a surprise cameo from topher grace which was wild). I also loved the sound design - definitely a film worth seeing in Dolby if you get the chance.

This also proves the theory that if any man ever asks a woman to debate him, she should punch him in the throat and then run away. The motives are always no good.

Well this had all the conflict the first one was missing and I did like that, but it also ended SO fast, with only a speech about the magic of Christmas to change the minds of the "villains" and that was a little boring. Would've loved to actually see the Christmas games, but I'm sure there is another hallmark movie out there with Christmas games, so I'll just watch that.
