  Godzilla Minus One 2023

  Saw someone describe it as "the Top Gun: Maverick of Godzilla movies" and they're not wrong at all.

  Though, seeing Godzilla be such an unrepentant villian in this does make me realize I think I'm one of those people who prefer either a neutral or good Godzilla most of the time

  A film in which a ship of couples, numerous versions of Adam and Eve, arrive on a world they hope to be a new Eden, only to discover that a Devil of their own creation has both killed their God and made his own nightmare Eden to punish them for their flaws.

  I don't know how the fuck Ridley gets his weirdo visions into big sci-fi blockbusters.

  Still a fucking wild ride.

  The class disparities were more prevalent on this watch, which only enhanced it. Nick Notle is so pissed off at this "white trash ex-con" which is said so many times as to be a drinking game. Max Cady was probably gonna haunt them no matter what, but their antagonizing him doesn't help their cause in the slightest. It's funny how far the film has to go villianizing Cady in order for you to take the Borden's side.
