The premise is bad. The horror implicit in the plot that is not examined at all in the narrative. The film completely ignores the aspects of the 'real' JT LeRoy that are too controversial -- that "he" was a transsexual who had had vaginoplasty, that he was HIV+.It is crass and insulting to the real woman who was, effectively, raped-by-deception, to real trans women whose struggles were appropriated by these two cis people. But worse than all of that: this movie is boring.
