  -Wtf was that ending/second half in general
  -the whole meta “this is the conversation about making the movie you’re watching” thing is getting old and served no purpose here
  -renate once again plays my exact type who I almost immediately hate
  -thought “oh maybe this is indie I should give it a break” but then saw it’s A24. do they still count?
  -lead actor was good

  Maybe all the white dreads made me biased but this was like really overacted. Particularly Mariam. Otherwise mega predictable except the things that just don’t make sense. Like when the soldier gets in the bus and gets all mad and then Clive Owen’s like hey smell this pee and the soldier gets off the bus…

  Crazy how much The Last of Us took from this movie tho

  Hipster propaganda?

  Halfway through I got the sinking feeling that this movie about incarcerated black men softening their hardened masculinity through theater was made by my fellow whites. Got wary but still cried (easy). 

  But also what was the messaging? I don’t think it was that deep kinda regular prison movie message. Camcorder footage cello music A24ness gave me the heebie jeebies here but maybe I’m wrong cause everyone says ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
