What a beautiful and interesting movie, dear Spike. It left me in awe, quite moved. I already know it will haunt my mind for a long time. Even though the end is a bit cliché for my taste (learn how to really love and your heart will open up from within), hence the four and a half stars, the movie achieves to offer quite an authentic and intense love story, and a really interesting reflexion/proposition about idealized love, slow disappearance/decaying…
I was very disappointed by the lack of substance of this film (I'd been waiting for it for a while). The life of Swami Yogananda interests me a lot as he had such an influence on a lot of Americans who discovered new forms of beliefs through his teachings. But yet, nothing is said about the deepness of these teachings and their implications for the students. Superficial treatment of a subject that could have been passionating, bad editing (we lost the focus at so many occasions).
Interesting footage of the yogi and his indian guru ( from whom I would have like to know more).
